Supporting Victoria’s dairy industry, Membrey’s managed the complex transport and installation of two 15-tonne milk silos from Rochester to Poowong. This project showcased our capability in planning and executing specialised heavy haulage, combining engineering precision, safety management and seamless coordination from start to finish.
The Challenge
Membrey’s was contracted to transport and install two large milk silos for Victoria’s dairy sector, each weighing 15 tonnes and measuring 20m long by 5m wide. The move from Rochester to Poowong required precision planning due to route curfews, bridge crossings, and multiple permit restrictions.
The Solution
Over several months, our team prepared permits, conducted route surveys and modified trailers to accommodate the load. During the move, we coordinated four pilot vehicles, Powercor line lifts, and on-ground support to manage signage and road clearances. Every step was carefully managed to meet compliance and safety requirements.
The Result
The convoy successfully completed the 24-hour journey without incident, arriving on schedule for installation. The project demonstrated Membrey’s expertise in managing complex heavy haulage with precision and control, ensuring safe delivery and installation under challenging conditions.
